Privacy Policy

Overview

Prism is an iOS and iPadOS color discovery and palette creation app built by Jesse Rubio. This Privacy Policy explains how Prism handles information when you discover palettes, extract colors from images, use the camera, generate palettes, save moments, make purchases, view advertising, or interact with third-party content and services.

Prism is designed around local color creation. Prism does not require you to create an account and does not operate a user account or authentication system.

Information Prism processes

Depending on the features you use, Prism may process the following information on your device:

• Palette colors, palette names, descriptions, stories, tags, inspiration text, and source information.
• Photos you capture with the camera or import from your photo library for color extraction or saved Moments.
• Extracted color samples, marker positions, image metadata, and color-analysis information such as Why It Works explanations.
• Palette-generation prompts you enter, such as ideas, moods, places, objects, or feelings.
• Saved and favorite state, creation dates, and other information needed to restore your saved Prism content.
• Purchase and entitlement state associated with Prism Pro, Remove Ads, or other App Store purchases.
• Advertising-related information handled by Google advertising services when ads are displayed to eligible free users.
• Information you voluntarily provide when contacting support.

Prism does not collect your name, email address, phone number, password, account credentials, or profile information through a Prism account system.

Camera and photo processing

Prism can request access to your device's camera so you can capture a photo and extract colors from it. Prism can also request access to your photo library so you can import an image for palette extraction. Camera and photo library access are controlled by iOS and iPadOS permissions, including Apple's limited Photo Library access where available.

Camera frames and imported photos are processed on your device for palette extraction. User camera photos and imported photos are not uploaded to a Prism-operated server, Unsplash, Google, an AI provider, or another palette-generation service for color extraction.

If you save a photo-based Moment, the associated image may be stored locally on your device as part of your Saved library.

Palette generation and color analysis

Prism's Generate feature is implemented locally on your device. Palette-generation prompts are not sent to OpenAI, Google AI, Anthropic, a Prism backend, or another palette-generation API. Generated palettes are created using Prism's local application logic.

Color extraction, marker editing, marker reset behavior, color sampling, color harmonies, and Why It Works palette analysis are performed locally on your device. When you reposition or reset a marker, Prism may analyze pixels in the visible image to update the corresponding palette colors.

Marker coordinates and extracted color information may be stored locally when you save a Moment.

Saved palettes and moments

Prism lets you save palettes, Moments, extracted colors, photographs, and related information. Saved palettes and Moments are stored locally on your device. Prism does not currently upload your Saved library, photographs, generated palettes, prompts, marker data, or saved Moment information to a Prism-operated server.

Locally stored information may include palette colors, palette names, descriptions or stories, tags, inspiration text, Why It Works information, source information, creation dates, favorite or saved state, extracted color samples, marker coordinates, image metadata, locally saved user photographs, and relevant Unsplash metadata for saved Unsplash Moments.

Prism also maintains local cache information on your device. Prism does not currently use iCloud or CloudKit to sync your Saved library between devices.

Unsplash

Prism can use Unsplash as a third-party image and content provider when Unsplash content is enabled or configured. Searching or browsing Unsplash is different from processing your own camera or photo library images.

When Unsplash is enabled, gallery, search, and category requests may be sent to Unsplash. Search terms you enter, built-in discovery terms, standard network request information, and required download tracking requests may be transmitted to Unsplash. Images are downloaded from Unsplash, and Unsplash image URLs and metadata may be cached locally or stored with a saved Unsplash Moment.

Prism does not upload your camera photos or imported photo library images to Unsplash for palette extraction. Your interaction with Unsplash content is also subject to Unsplash's privacy practices.

Advertising

Prism uses Google Mobile Ads / AdMob to display advertising to eligible free users. Prism also uses Google's User Messaging Platform for applicable advertising consent and privacy choices. Where required, you may be presented with advertising consent or privacy choices, and Prism provides Google's Privacy Options interface when Google's system determines that option is required.

Google Mobile Ads and Google's User Messaging Platform may process information associated with advertising and consent, including device identifiers, advertising data, product or app interactions, coarse or IP-derived location information, crash information, performance information, and other diagnostic information. Google's SDK privacy disclosures include Device ID behavior that Google classifies as tracking in its SDK manifest.

Prism itself does not request App Tracking Transparency permission, does not directly access IDFA, does not intentionally pass a custom device or user identifier to Google, does not intentionally implement its own cross-app tracking system, and does not operate a first-party advertising profile system. Prism disables Google Publisher first-party ID and gates applicable advertising through Google's consent system.

Prism Pro and Remove Ads users are intended to receive an ad-free experience after their purchase entitlement is resolved. Google's advertising and consent processing is subject to Google's privacy practices and your applicable device privacy settings.

In-app purchases and subscriptions

Prism uses Apple's StoreKit and App Store infrastructure for Prism Pro, Remove Ads, purchases, restores, and entitlement verification. Payment processing is handled by Apple.

Jesse Rubio does not directly receive or store your payment-card information. Prism may receive and maintain information from Apple about products, transactions, purchase status, subscriptions, and entitlements for purposes such as:

• Unlocking Prism Pro features
• Removing advertisements
• Restoring purchases
• Determining whether a subscription or purchase is active
• Providing features associated with a purchased product

Payment processing is governed by Apple's privacy practices and applicable App Store terms.

Analytics and diagnostics

Prism does not currently use a first-party analytics service such as Firebase Analytics, PostHog, Mixpanel, or Amplitude. Prism also does not integrate a dedicated crash-reporting service such as Firebase Crashlytics or Sentry.

Google Mobile Ads may process product interaction, advertising, crash, performance, and diagnostic information as part of its advertising SDK and related services. That processing is governed by Google's privacy practices.

Location and device information

Prism does not directly request access to your precise location and does not request a location permission for its core palette features. Prism does not require your precise location to extract colors, create palettes, or maintain your saved Prism library.

Third-party services used by Prism, including Google advertising services and Unsplash network services, may derive general or approximate location information from network information such as an IP address as part of their normal service operation.

Third-party services

Prism uses the following third-party services for specific features:

• Apple / StoreKit: Apple provides the App Store infrastructure used to process Prism purchases and subscriptions, restore purchases, and determine applicable purchase entitlements.
• Unsplash: Unsplash provides image discovery, search, category, content, attribution, and download tracking services when Unsplash content is enabled or configured.
• Google Mobile Ads / AdMob: Google provides advertising services for eligible free users.
• Google User Messaging Platform: Google provides applicable advertising consent and privacy choice interfaces.

The developer does not sell your locally stored palettes, photographs, prompts, or Saved library. Third-party services process and retain information according to their respective privacy practices.

Data retention

Palettes, Moments, extracted colors, marker positions, locally saved photographs, and other content stored locally by Prism generally remain on your device until you delete that content, remove Prism, or otherwise clear the app's data, subject to normal iOS and iPadOS storage behavior. Purchase and subscription records may be maintained by Apple according to Apple's own retention practices.

If you contact Prism support, your communication may be retained as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, maintain support records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or comply with applicable legal obligations.

Accounts and Identity

Prism does not require a Prism account and does not operate a user account or authentication system. Your locally created palettes, selected photographs, extracted colors, and saved Moments are not associated with a Prism user profile maintained by Jesse Rubio.

Prism does not collect your name, email address, phone number, password, or other account credentials through an account system.

Children's privacy

Prism is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children through a Prism account system. Because Prism does not require user accounts or profiles, Prism does not request a child's name, email address, phone number, password, or account information through an account system.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through a support request or another communication, please contact Prism support so the matter can be reviewed.

Security

Prism uses platform-provided iOS and iPadOS capabilities for permissions and local application storage. Reasonable measures are used to protect information handled by Prism. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Your choices

You can control many aspects of Prism's access to information through the app and your device.

• Manage Camera permission through iOS or iPadOS Settings.
• Manage Photo Library permission through iOS or iPadOS Settings.
• Use Apple's limited Photo Library access where available.
• Delete saved palettes or moments through Prism where supported.
• Hide color markers when viewing supported photo-based palettes.
• Manage subscriptions and purchases through Apple.
• Restore eligible purchases using Prism's Restore Purchases functionality.
• Adjust applicable advertising and privacy choices through Prism where Google's Privacy Options interface is available and through your device settings.
• Contact Prism support with privacy questions or requests.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time as Prism's features, services, or legal requirements change. When material changes are made, the Effective Date at the top of this Privacy Policy will be updated. You are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically for information about how Prism handles information.
